comiXology updates Android app following being acquired by Amazon

Say goodbye to the in-app purchases you knew, and welcome Amazon's new method

If you're a comiXology user and been wondering if any changes to your account would come about due to Amazon acquiring the digital comic provider, we now know of at least one change. An update to the comiXology app for Android is now available on the Google Play store and it's one you're going to want to grab to ensure your comics still keep flowing.
We've made changes to our Google Play Android Comics App so please, update to version 3.6. In this new version we have a new comiXology in-app purchase system and a great new cart feature, one of our most requested features. In the new app, you may be prompted to update your payment information to continue purchasing books. This is a one-time action after which you can purchase inside the app.
Android users get off a little bit easier than iOS users here as it's just an app update. iOS users have to download a whole new app in order for the changes to take effect. It seems as though comiXology does recognize how much of a hassle this is for folks though all things considered. They're proactively offering a $5 eGift Card credit to all those who have purchased through the comiXology platform in the past.
This credit will be automatically applied throughout the day to those accounts who are eligible and all of those eligible have 30 days to purchase books with that credit. That's not too bad but still, a hassle.
